Recipient of Padma Bhushan award, Jagjit Singh,70, passed away at 8.10 am today morning. He was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital when he suffered brain haemorrhage on September 23. He is survived by his wife Chitra Singh. Their only son Vivek died in the early 1990s after an accident.
An eternal voice now lay rest in peace … ghazal lost its mentor in Jagjit Singh..world of ghazal will never be same again .. “hazaron khawaishen aisi ki har khawish pe dum nikle”
This is a huge and irrepairable loss to the Indian Music and the Ghazal lovers. May the departed soul rest in the peace in the heaven!
