Indian "Monsoon Mission Project" - New Climate Model

The indication of the monsoon wind in the country is positive. The government is developing a new climate model with ambition for a “Monsoon Mission Project” predicts the average rainfall for the coming season. It refines the model and is based on modern dynamical simulations. It develops at IITM ( Indian institute of Tropical Meteorology), Pune. It also has the collaboration with several institutes in the country.

A climate expert says that the monsoon is on its positive side according to the results. He also includes that the prediction of mean seasonal rainfall by this model is above hundred percent. The result of this model is being passed as inputs to the IMD (India Meteorological department). It also comes as the first long-range forecast of the monsoon for the coming months.

The director of long-range forecasting division says that it is still in process for preparing the forecast of monsoon. The IMD is releasing two seasonal monsoon forecasts from the previous years. The average rainfall falls and creates drought over the Indian countries. This model helps in achieving frequent rainfall over the country.
