Is Karnataka at all trying to assume the role of a peacemaker in the controversial Cauvery water issue?

The much talked about and self proclaimed ‘good will gestures” of Karnataka is being put to questions by Tamil Nadu government on the crucial issue concerning inappropriate Cauvery water distribution. Karnataka is presumed to release an approximate quantity of 1.25 TMCFT (10,000 cusses) per day. Tamil Nadu government does not seem to be contented with this distribution. They have brought in the slander that the stand of Karnataka in this issue is completely and undeniably ‘reprehensible’. Tamil Nadu government raises serious concerns to the fact that Karnataka’s stand on Cauvery issue might jeopardize or endanger all sorts of major agricultural activities in Tamil Nadu. The government of Tamil Nadu is definitely in no mood to comply with an unequivocal as well as disastrous situation like this.

Karnataka’s stand on the water sharing has seemingly grieved the Tamil Nadu government beyond an ostensible level. Though the prime motto of the water sharing process should have been establishing justice as well as a wholesome balance between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu the real picture seems to be a dismal one as well as far from a veritable and justice making solution. Karnataka’s recent statement of this ‘goodwill gesture’ has seemingly aggravated the situation and brought the two states in a phase of legal war.

Tamil Nadu government would like to see this goodwill gesture to be a cunning ploy of Karnataka government which seems to grind its own axe and completely deprives Tamil Nadu farmers and other inhabitants of the state of their legitimate share of the water. Tamil Nadu government also deems the fact with serious concern that the inequitable allotment of Cauvery water is actually paving way for the summer crops growing in Karnataka in a completely unauthorised manner. Therefore Tamil Nadu government is actually looking for an agreement which will be more justified in nature and bring in some hope for Tamil Nadu farmers. A sound solution is positively and urgently solicited to avert the clear and present danger.
